On Wednesday, 18 September 2024, it was with great pleasure and joy that I presented both the Eden Foundation and the project "Professor Ondřej Hes' Private Nature Reserve" at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Institute of Landscape Architecture.
I used the twenty-minute presentation entitled "Space, Time and Respect" in the third block of lectures, focused mainly on practical measures and concrete examples of already implemented landscape revitalization and landscaping projects, to introduce and present our findings, strategy and goals.
I think that most of the conference participants were mainly interested in the photographs of the site taken from a drone, individual species of beaver dams and shots from photo traps. It was also appreciated that the project is dedicated to the legacy of Prof. Ondřej Hes and realized thanks to NF Eden, which by purchasing land gives back to nature what people took from it in the past.
Frankly, when I saw how much effort, money and often futile efforts people and society are putting into landscape restoration to achieve what has worked for us for years, I was glad that the European beaver did it all for us! And that's the thing, nature doesn't need advice and telling what to do, it just needs "Space, Time and Respect" and then it will show us what it can do, as I showed it today to the hundred and fifty or so registered participants in this interesting and important event!
Thank you to the organizers of the event for the invitation and the opportunity to present our project and the results of the activities of the beavers from the Kateřinský brook.
