Spring has arrived at our sites, wet meadows and ponds. This year hesitantly, with frequent cold breaks, but finally. After last season, water has at least partially replenished and even where we were dry for years, there is water again today.

At St. George's in Pilsen, the butterburs have already flowered, the marsh marigolds and spring orsesia are beginning to bloom. The European common brown frogs have already laid their eggs in the water and we are waiting for the green toads, for which it is still early (usually mid to late May is the peak season for these beautiful frogs).

Spring is in full swing in Terešov. There are common toads and European common brown frogs as well as common and mountain newts in the water.

In Lomany, last autumn we carried out a major removal of reeds, which practically overgrew the largest pond. This year, the water situation will be slightly wild, but due to the perfect functioning of the site in the long term, it will surely calm down soon.

In Chrást near Pilsen we have water after a few years, we expect brown frogs and perhaps common newts. The question is whether the amphibian population in the former brickyard will recover from 5 dry years.

Spring floods have receded on the Kateřinský Brook. The question is how much of this was caused by more water and how much by beavers manipulating the height of their dams in the spring. Either way, the common cranes are in place (see photo) and we hope for nesting.

The most beautiful time of the year is slowly beginning in other pools and marshes, so don't hesitate to discover the beauty of the Czech nature.
